The Role
You will design and bring up the power stages of our next-generation solar products: MPPT charge controllers, 48 V off-grid inverters (up to 5 kW class) and LFP battery systems. You will take boards from schematic to tested prototype, working alongside our firmware team on control and protection.
What You Will Do
- Design power converter topologies: buck/boost MPPT stages, full-bridge and push-pull inverter stages, isolated DC-DC
- Select and size MOSFETs/IGBTs, gate drivers, magnetics, capacitors and heatsinks; do loss and thermal calculations
- Design analog front-ends: voltage/current sensing (shunt, Hall-effect), signal conditioning, protection circuits (OCP, OVP, short-circuit, reverse polarity)
- Work with firmware on PWM/SPWM control loops, MPPT algorithms and BMS communication (CAN, RS485, UART)
- Create schematics and PCB layouts with attention to high-current routing, creepage/clearance and EMI
- Bring up and debug prototypes on the bench using oscilloscopes, differential and current probes, electronic loads and power analysers
- Run efficiency, thermal, waveform (THD) and stress tests; document results and design reviews
- Support pilot production, field installations and failure analysis of returned units
Must Have
- B.Tech / M.Tech in EEE, ECE or Power Electronics
- 1–3 years of hands-on work on SMPS, DC-DC converters, inverters, motor drives or BMS hardware (internships with real hardware count)
- Solid fundamentals: converter topologies, switching losses, magnetics, control loops and stability
- Digital electronics: microcontroller interfacing, ADCs, PWM, timers, logic, I2C/SPI/UART/CAN
- Schematic and PCB design in KiCad, Altium or OrCAD
- Comfortable on the bench with an oscilloscope and soldering iron; safe working habits around high voltage
- Can show at least one project they built and debugged themselves
Nice to Have
- Simulation in LTspice, PLECS, PSIM or MATLAB/Simulink
- Embedded C on STM32, ESP32 or similar MCUs
- Experience with lithium battery packs, BMS or cell balancing
- Knowledge of IEC/BIS standards for inverters and batteries, and of EMI/EMC basics
- Exposure to solar PV systems and grid/off-grid installations
What We Offer
- Ownership of complete products, from first schematic to field deployment
- Direct work with the founders and a fast design-build-test loop
- A working Solar Demo House where you see your designs powering real loads
About Alloy Charge
Alloy Charge Technologies is a Bangalore cleantech company that designs and manufactures its own off-grid solar products in-house. Our ecosystem covers SunXtractor MPPT charge controllers, FreedomVolt inverters, PowerVault LFP battery systems and a mobile/desktop monitoring dashboard. We run a working Solar Demo House where customers see the full system live.
We are building the next generation of solar energy products. You will work directly with the founders, own real hardware end to end, and see your work installed on customer roofs.
